About Ideal Door Components Incorporated

Ideal Door Components, Incorporated was founded in 1991 by Chick and Carolyn Sales. They have been a part of the Millwork Industry since 1961 where Chick started by working his way up the ladder from assembling pre-hung door units in the shop to outside sales calling on contractors in the greater Chicago area. Next, it was on to the position of field sales at the distributor level of Huttig Building Products, and then as District Sales Manager for the Malta Window Division of Philips Industries in Ohio. Later, an opportunity presented itself in Oregon which generated the relocation of the Sales family to our current location. In 1982, Chick and his wife Carolyn started their own Manufacturers Rep Company, known as Western Marketing & Sales Associates with primary lines such as sills, weather strip, decorative moldings and stair part systems. In 1992, Chick invented the original Chicks® Door Plug and once again, with the dedicated help and encouragement of his wife Carolyn, Ideal Door Components, Inc. was born. As the success of the original door plug became apparent, Chick and Carolyn sold Western Marketing & Sales Associates to focus all efforts on the success and development of the new product. With Carolyn by his side, they soon changed forever the way the industry would ship their doors.

The company changed in 2004 when Chick and Carolyn brought their three daughters in as partners in the company. Valorie, Bonnie and Michelle were no strangers to Ideal Door Components. Over the years, each of them had worked in the office in many capacities to learn the business.

Sadly and unexpectedly, the company changed again in 2015 when Chick passed away on Thanksgiving morning.

We are proud to continue the amazing legacy left to us by providing the best quality products and customer service in the industry! We are excited about where our future is heading. Together with our customers, sales representatives and distributors we will continue to bring quality products to the Millwork Industry!
